JASON Robinson reflected on a dramatic return from his England exile and predicted: "This could be the start of something special."

The Sale Sharks' skipper marked his Twickenham Six Nations comeback with two tries to help pilot England to an impressive 42-20 Calcutta Cup triumph over Scotland.

"There were a lot of signs there that we could be building towards something special," said Robinson. "We've got a lot of work to do and we can't get too carried away but I think the more games this team has, hopefully the better we're going to get.

"Even if things hadn't gone as they did against Scotland, I knew it was the right time to come back.

"It has been a hard time for all concerned over the past few years. Every English fan all over the world has been hurting and it has not been easy watching on TV. This is a new start. Everyone is excited by each other and potentially by what this team can do. We've taken a big step and, hopefully, can carry on."

Robinson's words of encouragement were echoed by his Sale colleague Magnus Lund.

"Everyone knows that we're still a developing team but we've given ourselves a good platform to build on," said Lund.
