SALE Sharks have been dealt a further injury blow ahead of their vital Heineken Cup Group Three clash with Ospreys on Saturday.

Scrum half Sililo Martens and back row forward Nathan Bonner Evans will be out until the end of the season along with long-term absentees Charlie Hodgson, Andrew Sheridan and Jason White.

Martens is to have surgery to repair his shoulder while Bonner Evans will undergo a knee reconstruction after he was stretchered off in the game against Calvisano at the weekend.

Head of physical preparation, Nick Johnston, said: "Lilo injured his shoulder against Gloucester in a collision.

"The shoulder was dislocated twice in the game but Lilo bravely played on.

"After consulting a specialist it has been decided that he will undergo a full shoulder reconstruction and will be out of action for 16-18 weeks."

Nick added: "Nathan will undergo a full knee reconstruction within the next fortnight.

"Ités a similar injury to the one that Charlie Hodgson sustained.

"Nathan will start his rehab immediately after his operation but will be out of action for six months."

Sale, ravaged by injuries this season, must win on Saturday if they are to stand a chance of qualification for the next round of the competition.
