WELSH wizard Dwayne Peel has found a welcome far away from the hillsides after settling into his new surroundings at Sale Sharks.

The quicksilver scrum-half swapped the familiarity of life at Llanelli Scarlets last summer to embark on a new challenge pitting his wits in the Guinness Premiership.

And five months after his move, the 27-year-old says says he has settled into the Sale family seamlessly - thanks in no small part to the infectious team spirit engendered by Sharks' skipper Juan Lobbe.

"It's been a very different experience and one that I've really enjoyed so far," Peel revealed.

"I think coming to Sale has probably helped stretch and develop me as a player. That was one of the reasons why I wanted to move here to try and take up the challenge of a different league and different environment and to try to better myself as a player.

"And so far I've been very pleased with the way that things have been going.

Excellent

"The spirit's really good in the camp and everyone seems to get on well and all the guys helped make me feel really welcome.

"And I think we've got a great captain in Juan who really helps bring the best out in people and he's been excellent in terms of forming a team spirit and team ethos.

"It also helps that I've really taken to living up here in Manchester and though my partner took a little bit of time to settle she's really happy here now so that's also a big help. So, all things considered, it has been a really enjoyable first couple of months.

"I think we've played particularly well in the past couple of weeks and if we can keep the kind of form and tempo we've displayed in recent weeks going, then we can do well as there is quality right throughout the squad here."

While striving to achieve success with Sale and helping Grand Slam winners Wales defend their title are the immediate priorities, Peel is also going big game hunting with a prized place on the British Lions tour to South Africa at the end of the season looming large on his horizon.
