SALE's on-off skipper Dean Schofield doesn't envy the coaches' task at Edgeley Park as they battle to keep Sharks winning - and keep players happy.

The Sharks second row has stood in as captain during both the World Cup and the Six Nations when several key players were missing.

Players were challenged to fight for their places but some were naturally left disappointed when the internationals returned.

With a stronger squad than ever at their disposal, Philippe Saint-Andre and Kingsley Jones have a job on their hands juggling the players - a job Schofield admits he wouldn't fancy.

The towering Tamesider said: "Philippe and Kingsley have a very difficult job on their hands.

"We have got a very strong squad this season and it's their job to keep putting out their strongest team.

"Every player is disappointed not to see their name on the team sheet. We all want to play as much rugby as we can. But we have to accept the coaches' decision and get on with it.

"It has not been an easy season for them what with the World Cup and then the Six Nations.

"Players have been away on international duty and the club has had to keep challenging in the Guinness Premiership.

"And if you look at our position in the league at the moment, it appears to be working well."

Schofield insists spirit in the camp is good although he does sympathise with several players, particularly Ignacio Fernandez Lobbe, who can only play for the club when All Black Luke McAlister is left out or when the internationals are on due to the Kolpak agreement.

Schofield added: "Nacho is a superb player and it has been hard for him not playing, but he is always upbeat and adds a lot to the team. He continues to work hard in training and gives 100 per cent.

"The strength of squad means that we can actually compete this season, but team selection is one job I wouldn't fancy one bit."
