The old pals act will be ripped up at Edgeley Park as the Sharks hold their first public inter-squad match.
Director of rugby Philippe Saint-Andre came up with the idea as a way of finalising his team for the first game of the season, which kicks off on Sunday, September 16 against Newcastle at Kingston Park.
Saint-Andre said: "A game amongst our own players will give me one final look at all the senior players before we play at Newcastle Falcons.
"But it won't be on the old traditional probables v possibles theme.
"I will be mixing it up and we will have players like Dean Schofield and Chris Jones in direct opposition.
"Steve Hanley and Oriol Ripol will be playing in direct opposition too and various other combinations we are working on at the moment.
"We want to test the players out, and there will be no favours on the night as every player on the pitch will be playing for his place in the team."
Head coach Kingsley Jones added: "We took some positives out of the Samoa game in that our scrum and drive was good.
"However we didn't have a good line-out after the break and we have been working on this in training this week.
"We could have scored more points in the game as we had penalties that were kickable but decided that we wanted to try out set-pieces.
"Make no mistake, the Samoan side we played was a good team and will I am sure make people take notice during the World Cup.
"We could have played a National League side last week and won comfortably but we wanted to test ourselves out."
Recovered
Sharks have already enjoyed a good win over Bayonne but were heavily defeated by a powerful Samoan side last Friday.
The plus points from that game included a first home appearance for 10 months for Charlie Hodgson who now appears to have fully recovered from the serious knee injury which ruled him out for most of last season.
There was also a first chance for the Edgeley Park crowd to see South African centre Rudi Keil in action.
The game is included in the season ticket package and others will be able to pay on the night. For ticket information call 08712-220120.
SEDGLEY Tigers are ready to hand a debut to several new signings as their National One season gets under way against Exeter tomorrow.
Steve Nutt will start at fly-half as a replacement for the injured Phil Jones, with fellow signing from Waterloo, Freeman Payne, on target to play in the centre.
But there is a question mark over the third signing from Waterloo, Jan Van DeVenter, who picked up a groin injury in a recent friendly against Man- chester.
Juan Crous, from Preston Grasshoppers, is due to start in the second row alongside player/coach Tim Fourie.
MANCHESTER entertain Blackheath in National Two, with former Grove Lane hero Steve Swindells back at the club in the form of backs coach, having taken over from Isaac Richmond, who left at the end of last season.
The club have also been working hard over the summer under the guidance of Sale Sharks fitness coach Scott Pearson.
MACCLESFIELD start National Three, with a trip to Leicester Lions.
Macc won just two league games on the road last season and will be looking to turn that around against the Lions, who only just sneaked a win at Lutterworth Lane last season in the closing stages.
