Matt Parish revolution turns Salford Reds around

New Salford Reds coach Matt Parish is already making his presence felt at the Willows
New Salford Reds coach Matt Parish has already “shaken up the place”, according to the club’s football director Steve Simms.

A wind of change is clearly blowing through The Willows as the Parish reign gathers early momentum.

Simms predicts that in two years  Parish’s hard work will be there for all to see.

The Reds boss is already

waxing lyrical about Parish’s hands-on approach and professionalism at all times.

Simms said: “I am very impressed with Matt – who wouldn’t be?

“The man is a quality coach who has come in here and made quite clear what he expects.

“His man-management is absolutely first class. He’s not afraid to look a person in the eye and tell them what he thinks and what he wants. I like this.

“Everything he does is total quality and, yes, he has already shaken the place up. That’s good, he calls a spade a spade and everyone knows where they stand and what they have to do.

“His early impact is outstanding. I honestly believe that within the next two years we will see this club progress at speed simply because of what Matt Parish will offer and what he can bring.

“We will certainly be reaping the rewards from his hard work.

“He’s very much a modern coach with modern ideas. He can get his point across and is undoubtedly the best man for the job. He’s hard working and totally dedicated.

“Nationality and status is irrelevant because this is professional sport and within such an environment if you want to win and be the best then the best man for the job takes charge.

“It’s all about the person in charge getting a job done. We’ve certainly seen that Matt is very innovative.

“Training and preparation has gone well and I’m convinced exciting times lie ahead.”

Parish’s first home game will be against Leeds in a week’s time.

He has already spoken to some of his new players and demanded they shed a few pounds in order to meet the required fitness levels of Super League.

This will be an ongoing process and will be monitored at the end of each week. Those who fall short of Parish’s expectations will clearly struggle to make the starting 17.

“Standards are high – they have to be,” added Simms.

Parish has also introduced evening training sessions.

He says when three-quarters of the Super League games are played in the evening it makes sense to do some training at the same time ahead of the game and prepare accordingly.”

Parish has quickly encouraged greater interaction among all players and sees it as being beneficial in fast tracking promising players towards the demand of Super League.

Simms said the players have welcomed Parish’s refreshing style of coaching.

He added: “Everything we’ve seen from Matt is quality.

“He has settled in well and made it quite clear what has to be done and what standards have to be met.

“He knows what he wants but most importantly he also knows where he wants this club to be and this is what he is working towards.

“It’s a very much a 24/7 job and Matt will definitely make his mark here in England with Salford.”

Reds hope to resolve Stefan Ratchford’s future by weekend and are extremely hopeful he will accept a new contract.

I like the look of Parish so far. He seems a straight talker and to the point, which might not be everyones cup of tea, but i think its what Salford need.
I think with the proffessional feel around Salford is sometimes lacking compared to clubs such as Wigans, Warringtons, Leeds, Hulls.

He seems to be bringing this Proffessionalism into the club with strict training, and open clear talking. McRae even in defeat would make an excuse for the players and state that they were 'Trying' their best.

Parish will not accept hangers on, and seems to aim towards the 'Stick' for motivation.
Might not suit all players but it worked at united with fergie.
Give him time!

Its about time the club held its hands up and admitted what a bad idea it was to replace carl harrison with sean mcrea, he has been a real let down for salford, you could say that all those 4 years were wasted. We expected so much and gained very little and I just hope the table will turn with matt parrish.Best of luck matt.
