Challenge Cup draw

SALFORD have been rewarded for their dramatic last-minute win over Hull by today being drawn away to Batley in the fifth round of the Carnegie Challenge Cup.

Championship One bottom side Rochdale, the lowest ranked club left in the competition, will travel to Super League high-flyers Huddersfield.

While Oldham avoided Super League clubs when they were drawn away to Gateshead.

Wigan face an all-Super League tie when they travel to Wakefield. St Helens, who have won the competition four times in the last five seasons, host Mike Potter's former club Catalans Dragons, while Warrington go to Featherstone.

Who knows this year could see the return of Salford City Reds to Wembley.

I remember the 1969 final against Castleford for all the wrong reasons.

The Reds back at Wembley!

Salford at Wembley? Stranger things have happened. The Reds would need a huge serving of luck! Saints vs Huddersfield is a much more likely final.Torred

Going to wembley in 1969 was my first ever trip to London as a young lad. Still waiting to see salford back there, and still waiting to see lancs win the county championship. Another life time for both?
