Turley scored five tries, including the record-breaking effort in the dying seconds, and kicked 11 goals to break the Leigh record of 38 set up by John Woods.
"It means a lot to me to break the record," Turley said.
"The person who held it, John Woods, is an absolute legend."
Darren Abram, the Leigh coach, had guided his old club Chorley to a 31-22 win over Leigh almost a year ago.
"Big scorelines happen when you are doing things correctly," said Abram. Tommy Martyn and Ian Knott were also outstanding, each notching two tries with Danny Halliwell and Andy Isherwood also grabbing braces. Tweet
