NATIONAL League One leaders Hull Kingston Rovers displayed the power and pace of a Super League team as they ran in 12 tries to dismantle Rochdale Hornets at Spotland.

The home side's cause was not helped by the omission of several key players due to injury and suspension, but even a full-strength Hornets line-up would have struggled.

The tone was set in the first minute when a superb kick from Ben Fisher put the hosts immediately on the back foot and Byron Ford eventually went over.

Hornets hit back with a converted try from Phil Hasty, but after that Rovers were rampant, David Tangato-Tao, Makali Aizue and Scott Murrell adding further tries, all converted by Gareth Morton.

After the break Rovers extended their lead with Ben Cockayne completing a hat-trick.
