Leigh 53 Widnes 4

LEE Greenwood and Adam Hughes grabbed two tries each as Leigh again beat their local rivals.

Two tries in three minutes just before half-time swung the game in Leigh's favour, and they had too much pace and power for the Vikings after the break.

The opening half hour had been fairly tight, with two Mick Nanyn penalties seeing Widnes trail by just two points after Greenwood's 13th minute opener.

But six minutes before the break, Chris Hill powered over for the home team, and Hughes followed soon after.

The Centurions then cut loose in the second half with Tere Glassie, Jimmy Taylor, Greenwood, Richard Moore and finally Hughes again all crossing.

With the influential Jules O'Neil booting 17 points, Tony Benson's charges maintained their unbeaten start to the NL1 season.

WHAT did you make of Leigh's efforts? Have your say.
