CASTLEFORD have continued to strengthen their squad for their return to Super League with the capture of two players.

Former Huddersfield captain Ben Roarty and former Widnes and St Helens centre Gray Viane have joined the Tigers.

The Giants released Australian Roarty after a neck injury prematurely ended his 2005 campaign, although the subsequent operation to repair the damage proved a complete success.

His signing - on a one-year deal - is likely to complete the Tigers forwards compliment for the 2006 season.

Viane is a Samoan centre who joined Widnes during the 2005 season from St Helens, and scored 12 tries in 14 appearances in their ultimately fruitless attempt for survival.

Tigers head coach Terry Matterson said: "I'm very pleased to have got Ben on board at the club. He is a real professional who you can guarantee to give you 100% effort week-in week-out.

"He is a very experienced player who sets a terrific example and I believe these qualities will make him a very valuable player for us in Super League.

"And it's good to have Gray on board - he is a big strong guy who can play in a few different positions and he certainly knows the way to the line.

"He gives us some depth, bolsters a few positions and compliments our forward signings."
