The Rugby Football League today confirmed that Manchester City's ground is among a number of venues being considered to host a match in the end of season Tri-Nations Tournament.
It proved a highly-popular venue when it hosted an Ashes clash between Great Britain and Australia last season, attracting 38,572 fans.
A spokesman for the Rugby Football League said the game's governing body would welcome seeing another high profile RL match at the City of Manchester Stadium.
No venues have yet been decided, but there is a strong possibility that one of the matches - possibly the Australia-New Zealand game - will be played in London.

Many fans in the North of England want to see the City of Manchester Stadium host the final. It has a bigger capacity than Elland Road in Leeds, which hosted last year's sell-out final between Great Britain and Australia.
The choice of venues for this year's events depends on stadium availability.

The Australia-New Zealand game should be held in France.
Both NZ - Australia games will be held down under prior to them both coming over here to play GBI as per the agreement with the ARL in order to get the go ahead for the competition. It doesn't surprise me that the MEN has got this wrong though I am surprised it rated a mention. RL coverage in the MEN for an area rich in RL heritage is pathetic.
