John Stankevitch says it's time up for the Law Cup

Rochdale Hornets boss John Stankevitch
Rochdale Hornets boss John Stankevitch admits this year’s Law Cup is now unlikely to go ahead, writes Alex Rowan.

The annual fixture was postponed for a third time on Sunday and although Oldham suggested playing the game last night, Stankevitch ruled out a mid-week clash between the two rivals.

A convenient date for both sides now looks out of sight with Oldham’s upcoming weekends taken up by pre-season friendlies.

“It’s a matter of player safety,” the Hornets chief said.

“To play a midweek game would mean the lads turning up already fatigued after a full day’s work, on a pitch that isn’t suitable to play on at the moment and with floodlights that Oldham’s own fans say are not fit for purpose.”
