MARTIN Moana is poised to quit Salford City Reds later this week and sign for either Hull Kingston Rovers or Doncaster Dragons.

Moana looks to have played his last Super League game for the Reds as football director Steve Simms confirmed interest in the veteran half-back from a couple of top National League clubs.

Simms told M.E.N. Sport: "It is up to Martin to decide what he wants to do. We will be talking to him to see what he plans and clubs are in for him."

Meanwhile, Simms has dismissed reports linking Reds with former Wigan star Simon Haughton, who has been playing rugby union for Orrell.

Haughton is keen on returning to league but Reds are not in the market, possibly leaving the way clear for could open doors for Widnes.

Simms added: "Haughton has been playing for Orrell on the wing but is really a back-rower. We're happy with what we have in this position."

Hearing

Simms confirmed continuing interest in Aussie forward Duncan McGillivray who has been playing for Villeneuve.

Reds plan to sign the former Canberra junior later this month when he is out of contract.

Meanwhile, Saints duo Sean Long and Martin Gleeson will attend an RFL hearing in Leeds on Thursday following an investigation into allegations they both placed bets on their team losing a Super League clash with Bradford at Easter.

They could face a ban and heavy fine if found guilty.

Former GB coach Maurice Bamford said: "I am not one to point the finger of blame at any player but a few in our game are becoming too big for their boots these days.

"It's alleged Long and Gleeson placed bets with a bookie who has strong links with the game. I find this strange yet many aspects of this particular case has got me stumped.

"Nevertheless, anyone who brings our game into disrepute deserves to be punished accordingly, this applies to everyone.

"If rules are breached, you stand the consequences and take the subsequent punishment like a man.

"If these two Saints players end up being banned, I believe they would up sticks and go to rugby union.

"If so, let them go, I say. Rugby League is a parochial game where we all stick together.

"Whatever happens on Thursday, this issue has not done our game any favours.

"I hate to say it, but we are gradually losing the discipline that made us the envy of other sports the world over."
