NEW Wigan coach Michael Maguire will have to wait for his first match in charge of the Warriors after their derby clash with St Helens today was called off on safety grounds.

Although the Knowsley Road pitch had thawed, paths approaching the ground and the club's car park were deemed too dangerous for spectators.

St Helens ground safety officer Bob Singleton said: "Even though there has been a significant thaw, the roads leading to the ground and pathways are still covered in ice and therefore aren't safe.

"The car park is particularly hazardous and, therefore, we had no other option than to call it off.

"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to both sets of fans."
