OLDHAM'S day out at the seaside was one to forget.

They had switched to bracing Blackpool's Bloomfield Road football ground because their Boundary Park home is undergoing much-needed pitch renovation.

But it was a roller coaster of a game which mirrored the nearby resort's pleasure park.

Steve Molloy's men stunned Batley by racing into a 20-0 lead after just half an hour.

Lee Marsh led the charge with two touchdowns and big Aussie Dane Morgan added another.

Pat Rich booted over three goals and Keith Brennan chipped in with two well-taken drop efforts.

But, just like the world famous Big One ride, it all went downhill.

Oldham, ravaged by injury and suspension, were forced to send out a patched-up side.

Disappointed Oldham boss Steve Molloy admitted: "Questions need to be asked. There is no way we can concede 44 points, no matter what side we have put out."
