Noble leaves Wigan

Brian Noble
WIGAN coach Brian Noble has announced his immediate departure from the club.

Noble, whose future has been the subject of speculation for most of the season, bowed out after the engage Super League play-off semi-final defeat at St Helens.

Noble told Sky Sports: "I'm not going to be at Wigan, which is disappointing.

"I've not told the players, I kept that away from them, but I've known for a week.

"I met (chairman) Ian Lenagan a week ago and we agreed perhaps a change is the best, and that's the way it's going to be."

Noble took charge at Wigan in 2006 after a hugely successful spell with Bradford Bulls, whom he guided to three Super League titles.

He steered the Warriors clear of relegation in his first season and his tenure at the club has since been noted for its semi-final near-misses.

Noble, also the Great Britain coach from 2004-06, has been linked with the vacancy at Welsh club Celtic Crusaders for next season.

In my opinion the only loser here will be Wigan Warriors.

Without doubt he is one of the best British coaches in the greatest game today.

Good Luck Nobby.

amazed he lasted so long. Nobby played and experienced the game in Australia under Jack Gibson who was an innovator. All Mr Noble has done is compound the British games problems by not only being silent on the games major issues but compound them by his insistence on following the flock. The English game is further behind Australia than it has been in forty years and we are at a stage now where a single victory would be an unbelievable shock. The dream of a series win is now just about out of the realms of possibility. The reality is there is not six British players that could get a spot in any Australian side.WHEN DID WE LAST WIN THE ASHES. WAKE UP EVERYONE LOOK AT WHAT WE'RE DOING. THE MEN AT THE TOP HAVE TO GO FIRST.
