Reds will be concentrating their efforts on signing proven quality Super League players rather than investing heavily in overseas talent.
Steve Simms, the Salford Football Director today revealed the decision to concentrate on recruiting from within the domestic game.
Reds do have an overseas vacancy with Craig Stapleton returning home to Australia - but the priority is to bring in new players from rival clubs in the UK.
Simms told MEN Sport: "We have already identified a number of targets and we will be active, but we are mainly looking to recruit home grown players.
"It's fair to say there isn't much available talent in Australia right now. Four of our overseas players are already on contract for next season and they've all done very well for us.
"Bringing in overseas players involved a lot of additional expense in terms of finding houses for them.
"In the main, we feel it's best this time to target players who are already over here. We are looking at Super League and a number of clubs have already taken quality players from within the Championship.
"What we're doing is more feasible and we know where we need the strength. We are totally committed to building for next season and to continue progressing."
Reds are on the look out for a prop and also need half-back cover if Richard Myler becomes a target for Challenge Cup winners Warrington.
England scrum-half
The England scrum-half is in contention to be in the Salford squad at Bradford this Sunday.
He was laid low by an illness last week and had an Achilles problem ahead of Reds last game prior to the break for the Challenge Cup Final weekend.
Simms has, however, ruled out any moves for Hull's Tommy Lee, who has been linked with Salford in the past.
Simms is expecting a tough game at Bradford.
He adds: "The Bulls are always up for it at home, but we will go there and give it our best shot.
"We want to finish the season on a high and have been playing well."
Salford stage their Player of the Season presentation night at The Willows on Friday.
Stefan Ratchford, Luke Swayne and Luke Adamson are among the front-runners for the top award.
"These three have all played extremely well," said Simms. "They've been consistent, they've stood out and it could be a close thing."
Meanwhile, Rob Parker is hoping to be given the all-clear to make his comeback from injury in the Reds' remaining two games.
Parker had been in fine form before sustaining a fractured skull at Wigan earlier this summer.
Parker has been training well and is keen to return.
What do you think? Have your say.

Also linked with Ashley Gibson form Leeds Rhinos, who is out of contract at the end of the season.
I would love to see the day when we have no overseas players in our game and the sooner this happens the sooner we will be able to beat the Australians and once again hold the ashes.
We have no chance of ever having a top international team while our clubs don't allow our young player to break through, for far too long now have our clubs been littered with over paid overseas players who in the main are only over in our country on a working holiday.
Well done Mr Simms now all you have got to do is find some decent British born players to make Salford City Reds into a side that can compete at the top level in the Engage Super League...
If Warrington are keen on Myler , they should be prepared to exchange 2 or 3 players for him. Players, not pounds are what the Reds need. Good idea to pursue homegrown talent in future . Perhaps it will encourage salford produced talent to stay at home. We hope they can keep myler ,however if they don't they will need help at halfback ,prop and centre . A good utility back would also not go amiss . Torred
I wish English Football Clubs would also concentrate in signing British players.
Maybe then we could once again pronounce the names and even be able to spell them.
I am absolutely delighted about Matty Smith coming to the Willows next season.
Smith can play in a number of positions and with a bit of luck he will stay with the Reds for longer than the one year on loan deal that has been agreed today.
WELCOME TO THE WILLOWS MATTY....
