TEENAGE scrum half Sam Tomkins bagged a hat-trick of tries as Wigan Warriors romped to a derby success in this pre-season friendly.

Tomkins, 19, grabbed all his touchdowns in the second half after his elder brother Joel crossed before the break when Wigan led 22-0.

Wigan paraded a far more experienced side than Warrington with Aussie hooker Mark Riddell making his debut alongside ex-Bradford Bulls winger Karl Pryce.

Pryce had not played for more than 12 months after breaking his foot playing for Gloucester RU, but marked his return to Rugby League with two first half tries.

The Warriors' other touchdowns came from Richie Mathers (2) and Sean Ainscough.

Sean O'Loughlin also made a successful return for Wigan after six months out with a shoulder injury.

Rookie centre James Mendeika notched a consolation try for Warrington whose coach Jimmy Lowes said: "I won't be losing any sleep over this result. Our side was packed with young kids and there were plenty of positives to take from the match.

"The young lads had a go with Tyrone McCarthy and Liam Hulme doing well."

Brian Noble, the Wigan coach, said: "I'm not going to get carried away by the result but everybody came through and I was delighted for Karl Pryce and Sean O'Loughlin."
