WELSH international prop Paul Highton, released by Salford after 11 years at The Willows, has signed a one-year deal with National League Two club Oldham.

The 31-year-old Oldham-born player will join up at Boundary Park with his former City Reds team-mate and goalkicking winger Andy Ballard, who was also released by Salford last month.

"Paul has always fancied playing for his home-town team and both he and we are delighted it is now going to happen," said Oldham chief executive Chris Hamilton.
