Warriors hunt for play-off venue

WIGAN are looking for alternative venues for their engage Super League elimination play-off against Bradford after informing the Rugby Football League the JJB Stadium is unavailable.

The play-off match is scheduled for Friday, just a day before Wigan's football team are at home to Sunderland in the Barclays Premier League.

The Warriors have been given the opportunity to source an alternative venue and are in talks over hosting the game at Stobart Stadium in Widnes or Warrington's Halliwell Jones Stadium.

A statement for the RFL confirmed an alternative date could not be found "due to competition integrity issues".

"Given the fixture cannot be staged at the JJB Stadium on the due date, these venues are being pursued in order to minimise disruption to supporters and to ensure that the play-off takes place in a suitable alternative stadium," said an RFL spokesman.
