The former Leeds full-back could miss the rest of the season after being charged with striking with his forearm against Wakefield last Friday.
The offence carries a maximum four-game ban which would rule Mathers out of the final Super League games against Leeds and St Helens.
And he would also sit out Wigan's opening play-off game next month.
The Warriors are already without England forward Gareth Hock, serving a five-match suspension for man-handling referee Ian Smith.
Mathers was red-carded in the first half, his second dismissal of the campaign, following a high tackle on Warrington's Matt King back in March.
But having studied a video re-run of the incident, coach Brian Noble says the club will be backing the former Leeds and Gold Coast Titans full-back.
Winger Chris Riley and prop Paul Rauhihi are doubtful for Warrington's trip on Sunday to bottom club Castleford Tigers.
Riley suffered concussion in the 36-34 defeat by Hull KR while Rauhihi pulled an abductor muscle.
Salford's reserve game play-off against Barrow Border Raiders takes place at the Willows on Friday (7.30 pm).
Tommy Goulden (foot), Mick Nanyn (broken thumb) and Matty Brooks (torn calf) are set to miss Oldham's final league game before the play-offs against Workington Town on Sunday.
