Salford snap up starlet

RELEGATEDĀ Salford have snapped up highly-rated junior Richard Myler from National League One runners-up Widnes.

The 17-year-old half-back, who broke into the Vikings' first team towards the end of the season, has signed for the Reds on a three-year deal.

"I'm determined to make it in rugby league, play at the highest level and be the best I can be," he said. "I'm sure that I'll get to play Super League rugby with the Reds."

Salford coach Shaun McRae said: "Richard's signing is an indication of the quality players we are attracting to the Reds. I believe he is integral to the future of the club."

Myler will play for England's Under-17s against the Australian Institute of Sport later this year.
