Salford sign Barnett

SIGNED: Richie Barnett
SALFORDĀ have made Warrington winger Richie Barnett their third signing in 24 hours as they step up their bid to avoid the drop.

The relegation-threatened Reds secured Warrington second rower Mike Wainwright and Castleford full-back or centre Tom Saxton yesterday - and today they returned to the Halliwell Jones Stadium to snap up the 26-year-old Barnett.

Barnett, who has made 13 appearances for the Wolves this season, played for new Salford coach Shaun McRae during his spell at Hull from 2004-05.

Reds director of football Steve Simms said: "We have signed three quality players with a wealth of Super League experience.

"It was felt after the last two performances that we needed to freshen and strengthen our squad in order to retain our Super League status for 2008."

Salford are three points adrift at the foot of the Super League table with eight matches left, starting with the visit of Bradford on Saturday.

What is your verdict on the signing? Have your say.

Here's hoping these three new players can inspire the rest of our squad for these last few games left in our fight to stay in Super League..

**COME ON SALFORD CITY REDS**

I'm particularly excited about the signing of Barnett, in my opinion the most underrated player in Superleague, he hasn't had much of a chance at Warrington of late but if he can recapture some of his old form from his last days under Sean McRea (at Hull FC) I'm confident he can win us survival. Come on REDS!
