Swinton 18 Oldham 42

OLDHAM celebrated their first win over professional opposition for a year with a resounding seven-try success.

Certainly their spirited performance, inspired by the impressive Mark Ogden, lifted some of the gloom but Swinton gave a lifeless display.

First-half tries by Simeon Hoyle, Neil Roden, Ian Sinfield and Paul O'Connor put Oldham in command with an Andy Saywell interception and 60-metre Wayne English effort in reply.

But a Kris Smith try and an Alex Wilkinson double completed Oldham's victory, Ogden adding seven goals with just another Saywell try in reply.

What do you think? Have your say.
