ROCHDALE Hornets made it 11 wins in a row with a battling win over arch-rivals Oldham.
But it wasn't as comfortable as some might have predicted as Oldham never gave up the fight.
The first half was typical derby fare with tough tackling, lots of mistakes and an abundance of penalties.
Hornets provided the better attacking rugby with tries from Phil Cantillon, Lee Patterson and Chris Giles. Three kicks from Mark McCully gave the home team an 18-2 half-time lead, Oldham's only score a Gareth Barber penalty.
The second half was a tetchy affair with neither side able to find any fluency.
A superb try from Tommy Goulden put Hornets in the driving seat before Ged Corcoran and Chris Percival crossed for Oldham.
In the final minutes of the game, Cantillon added a second.
