Brocklehurst scored a hat-trick as Oldham moved up to seventh in the table.
Gateshead opened the scoring in the eighth minute but Oldham replied almost immediately when Matthew Fogarty touched down.
Andy Isherwood, Luke Sutton, John Clough and Brocklehurst all ran in tries before the break to give Oldham a convincing half-time lead.
Brocklehurst completed his hat-trick after the restart before further tries for Clough and Carl Forber (2), who also kicked six goals.
Meanwhile, Widnes enjoyed a 38-24 home win over Sheffield Eagles in the Co-op Championship.
Kevin Penny scored twice for the Vikings to add to tries from David Hulme, Kurt Haggerty, Macgruff Leuluai, Richard Varkulis and David Allen.
