BMX star Shanaze Reade is a notable omission from Britain’s squad going to the Track World Championships in Holland later this month.

It’s thought Reade asked not to be considered for selection after a disappointing ride at the  World Cup in Manchester. And it casts doubt on her ability to double up in both disciplines at the London 2012 Games.

Becky James and Jess Varnish, particularly impressive at the World Cup, get an opportunity to partner Victoria Pendleton in the team sprint.

There’s no place either for Paralympian Sarah Storey despite winning team pursuit gold with Wendy Houvenaghel and Jo Rowsell at the World Cup.

However, Storey has had a hectic racing schedule and has just returned from the

Para-Cycling World Championships in Italy with two gold medals.
