The Amendoeria Bowls Club, on the Algarve, will open in March featuring a turf crown green of 37m square alongside a flat green of 40m square.
The complex will be launched from March 16-20 with the Iberian Crown Green Inauguration Cup and the Oceanico Pairs Trophy. Both competitions offer first prizes of £1,000.
The formation of the greens, alongside two golf courses at a luxury complex, is the brainchild of former Cheshire county player Simon Burgess, a director of Oceanico Developments.
A host of top players have already been confirmed for the event.
COLIN Lane and Mike Holden teamed up for a crack at the monthly pairs event at Stockport Cricket Club and ended up lifting the kitty from a big field.
HOPWOOD gave themselves a chance of catching the Royle in the `A' Division of the InBev Winter League when they beat the leaders 8-3 on the artificial green at Chadderton.
