Friends of Manchester Ice Hockey have confirmed that their ambitious new business plan is likely to become reality in the near future.
The fans' co-operative are looking for three investors to join them in launching a new team playing at the Manchester Evening News Arena in the new Elite Hockey League.
And spokesman Neil Morris said: "I am confident that, in the next couple of weeks, we will secure the investment we require."
The Elite Hockey League has confirmed that eight clubs have shown a commitment to the new set-up. They are believed to be: Sheffield, London, Nottingham and Belfast from Superleague, new teams from Ayr and Braehead, plus Findus British National League teams Coventry and Basingstoke.
Because Manchester, as yet, does not have a team it cannot confirm its inclusion in the league at present.
