Ice hockey group "empowered" after meeting

THE return of ice hockey to Manchester took a step closer to fruition after more than 500 people attended a public meeting on plans to establish a new club in the city.

The Friends of Manchester Ice Hockey gave interested members of the public the chance to see elements of the group's business plan that would involve fan investment in establishing a new club.

The group will now publish full details of membership and investment schemes on its website, along with season ticket packages and online registration forms.

'We are delighted with the numbers, the overwhelmingly positive reaction to the proposals that they witnessed and the passion of the fans to become involved in a truly meaningful manner,' he said.

'There's still a lot of work to be done, but we feel a massive leap of faith has been taken by all concerned.

"We now feel empowered by the fans, the customer, to take this thing forward and do our utmost to secure a future for ice hockey in this city.'
