Ice Hockey

Treble chance for Storm

THREE interested parties are lining up to start a new ice hockey team in Manchester.

But before they take the plunge each one wants to be absolutely certain that the public of Greater Manchester are ready to turn out and support a new club.

That's the bottom line according to Friends of Manchester Ice Hockey spokesman Andy Costigan and that's why he's hoping that supporters of the sport will turn out in force to tomorrow night's (Wednesday) public meeting at Manchester Town Hall (7 30pm).

'Everything is in place for ice hockey to return next season but now we need to make sure the commitment is there from the fans,' he said.

'If there is a good turnout tomorrow night that will send the right message to investors and hopefully see the start of a bright new future for the sport in Manchester'but it's down to the fans.'
