SHEFFIELD Steelers' Rick Brebant has been dealt an eight match ban after cross-checking Manchester Storm's Shawn Maltby in Sunday's clash between the two sides at the M.E.N. Arena.
The Ice Hockey Superleague's Disciplinary Committee today (Thursday) added an additional three matches to the automatic five-match ban initially slapped on Brebant after the Steelers lost an appeal against the severity of the punishment.
The extension rubs salt into the Steelers' wounds as Brebant's removal from the game for the cross-checking proved the match's turning point, with Ivan Matulik striking a second goal to give Storm victory.
