TONY Hand is hoping to break the 4000 career points barrier as Phoenix bid to get back to winning ways this weekend.
The Phoenix player-coach is just six points short of that landmark and could hit the target with games against Hull Stingrays on Saturday in Altrincham (6.30pm) and Edinburgh Capitals in Scotland on Sunday.
Hand, 42, is regarded as the best British trained player ever to have played the game and holds the MBE for his services to the sport.
Hand said: “Points totals are not something I really think about but I did know I was close to 4,000 points, and I’ll be delighted to reach that mark whenever it happens.
“I’m fully committed to the Phoenix cause and my aim is for the team to win and play well. If I can reach the mark this weekend as well, that would be a bonus, but if it takes longer, as long as we get the results, I'll be happy.
“We’ve had a tough couple of weeks and nobody want to lose three games on the run however well we played.
“We want to get a couple of wins on the board and start climbing back up the table.”

Fantastic achivevment for Tony - he fully deserves his continued sucess and the big question is - how on earth will the team cope without 'The Great One' when he eventually hangs up his skates. Its a joy to watch such a craftsman at work
