I’VE had a really boring week this week so I decided to take the old razor out and shave my head.
If you think my ears were big before you should see them now.
Tony Hand, our coach, gave the guys a few days off and some of them went off to Edinburgh and others headed for Dublin.
He believes that rest is a good thing to have and we’ve been playing well and we deserved it. It gives the guys the chance to go out and see what Europe has to offer.
I had flights booked for Frankfurt but I didn’t go in the end because of what happened last week.
Flying back to Canada for my grandfather’s funeral and then coming back for the Saturday game was tough call and I was really tired after all that travelling. I wanted to recharge my batteries.
I think only Adam Walker and myself stayed here.
Tired
It was good for me because all that travelling made me really tired. I wanted to recharge my batteries.
The trouble is I’m a talkative guy and when I don’t have anyone to hang around with I get bored and have to find a way to entertain myself.
Hopefully the fans will like my new look but my head has been a lot colder. I’m going to have to get some winter hats.
Last week we lost 3-2 in Coventry and won 6-4 at home to Hull.We played the best we could in Coventry but they are a good team.
Both sides played well but they got a couple of lucky goals – bounces off skates that went into the net – and that was the only difference between the teams.
Next time we play that well against them hopefully it will land our way. We felt bad about losing because they were a team we really wanted to beat but we didn’t feel bad about the way we played.
Result
We just didn’t get the result.
The following night we had to pick ourselves up to face Hull who are a team we should beat. The only way we are going to lose that game is if we beat ourselves and we almost did.
But we got the job done in the end and a win is a win. It wasn’t our best performance but we scored a lot of goals and took care of the business.
On Tuesday Basingstoke did us a favour by beating Nottingham who are now level on points with us in third place so that was a really good result for us.
We are in Nottingham again on Saturday and they will still be smarting from our win there a couple of weeks ago.
That was probably our best game of the year and if we have the same effort there is no doubt in my mind we are going to win that game again.
Attitude
We came out from start to finish last time and we need that same attitude again.
Cardiff are next up at home on Sunday (5.30pm) and we haven’t faced them this year other than a pre-season game.
They have a good squad and are much better than their place in the table suggests.
We don’t know what to expect so we will take it easy in the first period and test them out and see what they are like and take it from there.
But we want to get that top spot. We have a couple of big games this weekend and if we win them both we have a chance of doing it.
IF YOU have something to say to Brett post a message in our comments section.
