That helped him to three-under-par 68 and atoned for a disappointing finish to his first round when he dropped five strokes on his way to a 71.
Blundell, who was defending his title, returned 71 and 69 to lift himself into third place in the Order of Merit, 150 points adrift of his county team-mate John Carroll.
