Bolton's Kelly Tidy has the chance to become only the third player in history to win the British Open Amateur at woman and girl level in the same year.

She claimed the senior title at Ganton in June but, at 18, is still young enough to compete in the Girls’ Championship which starts at Royal Belfast Golf Club on Monday.

And the Junior Solheim and Ryder Cups player has a score to settle, having twice lost in the final.

After rubbing shoulders with the world’s top women players at Royal Birkdale last week, Kelly and the rest of the England girls met Irish superstar Rory McIlroy in the run-up to this week’s Girls’ Home Internationals at Northern Ireland club Bangor. Tweet
