Hart Common is relatively new to the golf scene and has placed a great deal of emphasis on widening the appeal of the game.
The complex at Westhoughton, on the outskirts of Bolton, only opened in 1995 and offers much more than the 18-hole parkland course which is its centrepiece.
The course itself enjoys USGA standard greens, large tees, generous fairways, large imposing bunkers and natural water hazards. Club selection is unlikely to be the same each time because of a breeze that rarely blows in the same direction or strength two days running.
In addition, there is a nine hold par three Academy Course, 27-bay driving range, large practice putting green, buggies for hire and a small homely clubhouse.
Such practice facilities are the envy of many other clubs which do not have the same kind of scope to allow members and visitors to hone their skills away from the actual course, often due to a lack of space.
Hart Common also has its own golf school run by professional Steve Parry who has taken a step back from competing abroad to pass on his expertise.
The par three course has holes which vary in length from 46 yards to 155 yards, allowing players to practice those little feel shots that make all the difference to a handicap.
There is also an indoor analysis suite which means that everything is on site whether it is catering for the beginner, the improver or the advanced player.
