Pike Fold Golf Club

Home sweet home for Pike Fold is now the settled surroundings of Unsworth, near Bury, after an unexpected change of address.

The club was forced to move from its Blackley location at the end of the 1990s to accommodate the M60 motorway.

But the switch has paid handsome dividends with one of the finest courses in the North West and greens that always impress visitors and members alike.

They are laid to USGA specification, a tell-tale sign among golfers in the know that these all-weather surfaces are superior to many other courses which can only look on in envy.

Pike Fold became an 18-hole lay-out in 2008, a milestone well-timed since it coincided with the club’s centenary the following year.

There has been a lot to celebrate with facilities that put this club among a number of venues that ought to be on the wish list of players who like to go out and sample the varied selection of courses in Greater Manchester.

The transformation at Pike Fold was supervised by course manager Philip Harmon who worked in America and Germany before returning to this country.

The club professional is Grant Hamerton, a former European tour player and a name well known to followers of the game for his prodigious talent.

For those unfamiliar with the location, the course is situated within easy reach of the M60 and M66 and enjoys splendid views. The clubhouse has extensive conference and private function facilities suitable for any occasion.
