Swinton Park this week became the latest regional club to sign up for PowerPlay Golf, heralded as the game's version of Twenty20 cricket.
The risk and reward format is played to stableford rules over nine holes but with a choice of two flags on each green, the more challenging black one worth double points for nett birdies or better.
Now Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce will stage the north west's first organised corporate day at Oak Royal, Lancashire's newest club, next month.
They have identified the game, brainchild of former Walker Cup player and captain Peter McEvoy, as perfect for business people as it is for club members.
Jennifer Shaw, the chamber's golf events organiser and a past captain at Hopwood Cottage, said "It solves one of golf's biggest problems that it takes too long. With PowerPlay Golf, you get a real buzz and a great tournament in half the time."
McEvoy, who will attend the event at the Withnell club near Chorley on April 23, added: "Company days have become slower and slower, and are in danger of putting people off golf. This format gets your customers around the course and back into the clubhouse more quickly."
Jennifer, who is planning to run a series of corporate days for local firms, added: It's an incredible exciting and authentic way new form which puts players under Tour level pressures."
Oak Royal complex, which opened two years ago and is PowerPlay Golf's region hub, will also host the country's first inter-club matchplay competition with Lobden, one of the county's oldest clubs founded in 1888.
The first leg will be at the Whitworth course on May 10 and the return at Oak Royal two weeks later.
A league involving six regional clubs is planned for the summer.
Meanwhile, PowerPlay Golf has gained support from many of the golfing world's governing bodies and associations, including the PGA and the World Golf Foundation and plans are well advanced to receive global television coverage this season.
BRAMHALL prodigy Bronte Law is in the nine-strong England squad for the Scottish under-16 Open Strokeplay Championship at Craigielaw on April 9-10.
