DOUBLE major champion Tony Jacklin was guest of honour at the PGA Annual Luncheon where he received the PGA Recognition Award for his outstanding contribution to golf.
The 64-year-old was presented with the award at the Association's annual fundraising luncheon for its Benevolent Fund at London's Grosvenor House Hotel.
Jacklin, who shot to fame with victory in the Open at Royal Lytham in 1969, followed less than 12 months later by success in the US Open, said he was delighted with the award which has also been won by the likes of Seve Ballesteros, Nick Faldo, Colin Montgomerie and Ian Woosnam.
"I've always been proud to be a PGA member and I'm tremendously honoured to receive this award from the Association because anyone who knows anything about the game knows PGA professionals are the backbone of the sport," said the Scunthorpe-born golfer who captain four Ryder Cup teams.
