Practice drill – ‘Worst Ball’
One of the things that you need to do is build mental toughness. Not unlike the Ethiopian marathon runners who train at altitude, you need to play a game that is actually tougher than the game itself.
In this round, I am playing worst ball. I have hit two shots off the tee. Now, I would love to play this one that is sitting on the fairway, but I am going to have to play the worst one, that is actually sitting off the fairway.
Now, I will play nine holes like this, always hitting two balls from the worst position and keep a score. If I can get the ball round in a decent score with my worst ball, just imagine how much easier the game is going to seem when I only have to play one.
Summary:
Take two balls off the tee
Play another two shots from the worst position
Two consecutive putts must be holed to finish
