Price is right for M.E.N. title

WINNER: Sam Price
SAM Price kept up a family tradition when he won the M.E.N. Greater Manchester Junior Open at his club Sale.

The 14-year-old Hale St Ambrose College pupil carded an impressive 61 off his 24 handicap to win our coveted trophy by two shots.

Sam's dad Steve is a single figure player at the club where his grandad Les has been a life-long member.

This is his first season in competitive golf and, after already knocking four strokes off his handicap, he can expect to lose a few more after this performance.

"My hero is KJ Choi," said Sam who hopes to turn professional one day.

Runner-up and two shots off the pace was Cheadle's 21-ranked Will Cartwright while Rossendale's Brendan Norman fired top gross of 71.

Superb Head girl was Katy Rawthore who also made the most of home advantage to return a 67 off her 25 handicap.

And best gross was a superb 74 by 13-year-old Bramhall prodigy Bronte Law.
