And the Haydock Park duo did it the hard way by beating two pairs from the host Lincolnshire club - including the holders.
Sargent, 55, an electrical contractor, and plumber Gilblin, 39, dispatched defending champions Les Toyne and Simon Caswell 4 & 3 in the semis and repeated the score in the final against Ted Woodcock and Dave Quincy who also play on the Hotchkin course.
But they had to pull out all the stops in the quarter-finals against Yorkshire aces Steve East and Mike Jones at the second extra hole.
"We looked down and out until we birdied the last two holes to level the scores. It was one of the better scalps," said two-handicapper Sargent.
Ken and Barry, who plays off one, also survived a scare in the third round, trailing by four holes after five against Peterborough scratchmen Richard Cole and Neil Presto, before taking charge.
PETER Barber rattled up three birdies in a flawless 69 to win the final fixtures in the Hyundai Winter Pro-am Series at Mottram Hall on Monday.
The 50-year-old Didsbury professional should have been playing in the Manchester Alliance 36-hole Championship at Northenden but for a clash of dates.
"I felt obliged to support my team at Mottram," said Barber, who was a shot in front of in-form Joel Rodwell, from Southport and Ainsdale.
Meanwhile, there was deadlock at Northenden with defending champion Jon Cheetham, from Gatley, and High Legh's Tony Sproston returning matching two round totals of 142.
The pair must go head-to-head on a date to be decided.
