WIGAN Athletic were today expecting to complete the signing of Gareth Farrelly from Bolton on a short-term deal until the end of the season.

If he signs, the midfielder will be in line to make his Latics' debut on Saturday against the club where he has been on loan - Bradford City.

Walsall have matched Wigan's interest in Farrelly who is said to favour staying in the North West.

First-team opportunities at Bolton have been limited for the Republic of Ireland international since being part of Sam Allardyce's promotion winning squad.
