Preview: Wigan Athletic v Walsall

MIDFIELD star Jimmy Bullard has been passed fit for Wigan Athletic's crucial home clash with Walsall.

Bullard sustained a knee injury against Stoke but a scan has revealed no extensive damage.

Manager Paul Jewell said: "He's a very enthusiastic player - sometimes he's too keen and it's a relief to know he's fine and ready to play.

"Tomorrow's game is a massive one - Walsall won't be an easy picking."

Jewell is still waiting for the outcome of an appeal to have Jason Roberts's red card against Stoke rescinded.

Roberts will be banned for three games if referee Phil Prosser's decision stands.

Wigan will be without winger Gary Teale tomorrow - he broke a collar bone against Stoke and could be out for two months.

Jewell adds: "We will have to be patient against Walsall. It's vital that we don't get edgy, but we believe we can go out and beat anyone in the competition. It's now that time of the season where you have to grind out results."

LAST SEASON: Different divisions.

DANGERMAN: George Leitao - seven goals this season.

FORECAST: Wigan 2 Walsall 0.

Wigan have proved that they can match any team in D1. Many people did doubt this team, however they have proved to be the surprise of the season.

I believe Wigan Athletic have a stong chance for promotion this season.

Not bad really because we played against the likes of Cheltenham town last season!
