WIGAN Athletic have given West Brom 24 hours to consider a club record £2m bid for striker Jason Roberts.

Latics are back in for Roberts, who snubbed a big money move to the JJB Stadium in September. The big striker is currently on loan at Portsmouth but is out of the first team picture.

Wigan boss Paul Jewell said: "We have made an offer and the club in question has until Thursday to decide. We are working extremely hard to strengthen the squad."

But while Wigan close in on Roberts, their move for Steve Guppy could fall through with the former England international's wage demands apparantly scuppering his move from Celtic Park.
