NEW loan signing Jamie Lawrence starts on the bench for Wigan who face an injury-hit Forest side.

Lawrence has been told by Latics' boss Paul Jewell he must impress to force his way into the starting line-up.

Lawrence, a tough tackling midfielder, is highly rated by manager Jewell, who had him in his squad at Bradford City.

Skipper Jason De Vos also hopes for a recall after playing in midweek for Canada against the Republic of Ireland. He has recovered from a broken foot.

Keeper John Filan is also clear to play after having his sending-off at Reading overturned.

Filan says: "I'm glad it has been rescinded but it should never have happened in the first place.

"It was the first red card of my career but thankfully it won't stand against my name. It was just unfortunate the linesman made a poor decision.

"He was the only person in the ground who thought it was handball.
