Preview: Wigan Athletic v Crystal Palace

EARLY birds Wigan Athletic get the chance to re-claim top spot with a 12.30pm kick off for the televised home game against a Crystal Palace side desperate to kick start their season after a run of disappointing results.

Nathan Ellington should be back in the starting line-up hungry to end a nine-match goal famine and he's got the full support of Paul Jewell.

The Wigan boss said: "He's just going through one of those spells every striker goes through. But it's something he's got to put right because scoring goals is what he gets paid for. But there's no big panic."

Birthday boy Geoff Horsfield, 30 tomorrow, is also expected to return after flu.

Jewell will also run fitness checks on keeper John Filan (ankle) and Lee McCulloch (groin).

KEY OPPONENT: Dougie Freedman - Palace's leading scorer with 10 so far.

Last season: Different divisions

PREDICTION: Wigan 2 Palace 0
