Wigan Athletic 1 Sheffield United 1

BLADES boss Neil Warnock is tipping both his Sheffield United team and Wigan Athletic to sustain a serious promotion challenge in Division One.

Warnock left the JJB Stadium pleased to take a point off a spirited Wigan side who looked set to go four points clear at the top. Jack Lester's late equaliser meant it was honours even in a tight top-of-the-table clash.

Warnock said: "People will say teams like us and Wigan will run out of steam, but I honestly cannot see it. We both show good spirit and are hard working. I told my players at half-time that not many sides are going to beat Wigan. It was a cracker."

Geoff Horsfield, a rugged striker who has always been admired by Warnock, fired Wigan ahead after four minutes.

But Lester got in behind Nicky Eaden for the 86th-minute equaliser with an unstoppable drive.

Wigan boss Paul Jewell said: "We never looked like scoring again - a draw was a fair result. I was pleased with the effort against one of the best sides in the league."

Was a draw fair? Have your say.
